Increasing Revenue for a California Neighborhood Gym

Patrick came to me wanting to some guidance into where he should put his time energy towards to get the most bang for his buck. He knew he wanted to spend money towards marketing efforts, but just wasn’t sure what would be the most beneficial. That’s where I came in and worked a little magic to help him understand his options and what could be most beneficial. I performed UX research and provided my recommendations according to my findings and while working with Patrick’s restraints and his goals.

A little summary of the accomplished I did in this work:

I conducted a competitive and comparative analysis for him to show him how ProGym compares to those around the neighborhood and what we could learn about from the ways they were doing things from physical find-ability of the gym, overall brand look across all platforms from digital to store front, and I conducted some ad-hoc user interviews to get an idea about how people’s experiences had been with ProGym verse others. The information also showed us how they came across ProGym and more insight into our target market where Patrick would be able to increase revenue by catering and understanding the users (customers and potential customers) at his gym. It was quite fun to see all the positives that came from our interviews as well and was more report of the hard work Patrick had already put into the gym and that he was seeing success even if it seemed to be happening slower then he hoped. That is one of my favorite things about helping people improve user experiences getting to tell my clients what is really working well for them where they are and then gently discovering what we could improve on.

In the end of this project, there was not enough funds to allow us to get to the end of seeing his sales increase after he had made his decisions. He was however incredibly grateful for all the information I was able to provide him in such little time! I took about 3 weeks to work with him on and off, two meetings with him, and collaborating with a friend who worked in the gym to provide him with the report found below.
